Principal or Lead Research Engineer/Scientist – Active Perception and Computer Vision

SSCI is looking for a Principal or Lead Research Engineer/Scientist in the areas of Active Perception and Computer Vision systems. This position requires U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for U.S. Dept. of Defense Security Clearance.

Level Ph.D. w/5-7+ yrs in EE, CS, AI or related field, with demonstrated experience in Computer Vision or Machine Learning systems autonomous or robotic systems

5-7+ years (post-PhD) progressive technology development and leadership experience in Robotic Perception: e.g. Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Visual Navigation, SLAM, relative positioning, sensor fusion, and/or non-traditional perception systems development

Location Full-time opportunities are available in Woburn, MA.
Duties Develop advanced concepts in Active Perception and Computer Vision for autonomy systems, primarily focused on use of robotics behaviors to improve Unmanned Systems’ performance.

Develop competitive advanced technology proposals and follow-on programs for R+D customers, including DARPA, ONR, AFRL, ARL, NASA, other Gov’t agencies & Industry primes.

Lead execution of advanced technology R+D programs in Principal Investigator role.

Support other company initiatives and programs in a Subject Matter Expert role.

Support company marketing and business development via technical briefings, publications, conferences and professional outreach activities.

Required Skills/Experience Established background in Perception, Vision, or Machine Learning for robotic systems

Demonstrated successes in winning proposals and developing innovative solutions in Vision-based Autonomy and Control  and/or Machine Learning for robotic systems

Demonstrated ability to interact independently with R+D customers as PI or SME

Demonstrated small team leadership and interpersonal skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired Skills/Experience Commitment to mentoring staff

Program management experience
