Level Candidates must have at least a Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering or a related field, and at least two years of relevant experience gained before, during, or after degree.
Location Woburn, MA
  • Act as technical lead for aerospace research and development programs.
  • Develop, integrate, and test bio-inspired obstacle avoidance algorithms for Fast Lightweight Autonomy program.
  • Implement and test real time image processing software to be used for multiple projects.
  • Support Small Business Innovation Research proposal writing.
  • Present research results at meetings and conferences.
Required Skills/Experience
  • At least eighteen months of experience conducting research on sound and visual motion sensing, and working with local visual navigation and collision avoidance for ground and aerial vehicles
  • At least eighteen months of experience developing real-time monocular-vision based obstacle avoidance in complex cluttered environments, implementing the system on a UAV, and flight testing the system in a range of indoor and outdoor environments.
  • At least eighteen months of experience with bio-inspired perception and control approaches. Must be proficient in MATLAB, C/C++, VisionWorks, CUDA, ROS, SolidWorks, and Google SketchUp.
  • Proficient in the mechanical and electrical assembly and maintenance of UAVs, and in the integration of new sensors, flight computers, and customized hardware components.
  • FAA certified Remote Pilot.
