Scientific Systems Company Inc. is looking to fill a Senior Research Engineer position in the Intelligent Control Systems group for R&D projects in the areas of aero-servo-elastic modeling and control, design and analysis of Sense and Avoid systems for unmanned vehicles, and autonomous guidance, navigation and control for single and multiple aerial and space vehicles.

Location Woburn, MA.
Duties
  • Implement advanced flutter suppression and drag optimization algorithms to high-fidelity simulations of flexible aircraft and spacecraft in Matlab and Simulink; carry out detailed performance analysis; and support wind tunnel & flight testing.
  • Develop and implement advanced autonomous GNC and optimization algorithms to high-fidelity aircraft and spacecraft simulations and carry out performance analyses.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop and experimental testing of advanced GNC algorithms.
  • Work in a team or as a task lead to execute technical deliverables.
  • Contribute technical materials for proposals, white papers and/or publications.
  • Present technical results to internal and external customers.
  • Participate in technical discussion regarding new R&D ideas and directions.
Required Skills/Experience
  • MS or PhD and strong background in advanced GNC for aerospace vehicles.
  • Strong background in aircraft dynamics, including aero-servo-elastic modeling.
  • Effective proposal writing skills or willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in other programming languages.
  • Working knowledge of embedded control systems and related hardware.
